Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) provide specialised support and services for children who have a disability and complex health needs associated with their disability. The CDNT supports a child’s development, wellbeing and participation in family and community life. CDNTs include health and social care professionals from a variety of disciplines. The team works with the child and its family, sharing knowledge, information and skills to support the child’s development goals as identified as part of their Individual Family Support Plan. Team members can meet children and their families in their home, school or in the CDNT’s office.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to support the team, children and their families, presenting with complex needs arising from a disability. The role will include supporting the clinicians to implement programmes in special schools in the area.
We are now seeking to recruit the following positions for our Children’s Disability Network Teams based in Carrigaline and Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork
THERAPY ASSISTANTS & PSYCHOLOGY ASSISTANT – Ref: 47/2023
Post 1: Full-Time Therapy Assistant (2 posts)
35 hours per week
Salary Scale €31,723 x 8 increments to €40,738 per annum
Post 2: Part-Time Psychologist Assistant
17.5 hours per week
Salary: €14,774 per annum
The successful candidate must have the following:
Post 1: Full-Time Therapy (2 posts)
Essential Criteria
- QQI Level 5 major award in a relevant qualification in Speech & Language/Occupational Therapy Assistant, Therapy Assistant or equivalent
- Graduates in social and health care professions who are committed to on-going continuous professional development
- Knowledge and understanding of Progressing Disability Services Model.
- Full clean driving licence, which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads and use of a car, is essential.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of working in a Therapy Department
- Experience working directly with child/ young persons to develop life skills to support overall wellbeing.
- Experience working as part of a team.
Post 2: Part-Time Psychology Assistant
Essential Criteria
- Eligible applicants must meet the following qualification requirements;
- Have a Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) accredited qualification at not less than Level 9 at 2.1 honours grade on the QQI qualifications framework in which Psychology was a major subject OR
- A Level 8 honours degree in another subject together with an accredited conversion qualification at a minimum of (2.1) as conferring eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland OR
- A qualification equivalent to the above accredited by the British Psychological Society for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society OR
- A qualification equivalent to either (i) or (ii) which would allow the applicant to become a graduate member of PSI.
- Have a knowledge and understanding of the Progressing Disability Services Model and
