Job description:
Function:
Employees in this position will have a clear understanding of the tasks that need to be carried out to maintain smooth running of the production floor and production lines and will support the efficient daily running of production lines.
They will also have a good understanding of and ability to carry out cleaning tasks and will ensure all areas of the production hall are cleaned after use or to schedule and signed off to the required standards.
The production operative will be able to carry out a line start-up once maintenance have prepared the equipment and stop/shutdown the line at the end of a production run.
They will help with training new and temporary staff to ensure line duties are carried out in the correct way.
They will be responsible for monitoring quality control on the production lines.
When needed they will be able to help with loading an unloading of pallets, using forklifts and pallet trucks.
The production operative will have a can-do attitude, they will be able to spot improvements and always be available to help others when they have time to do so.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Line operations
· Conduct start up and shutdown for each production line.
· Ensure the correct packing and labelling of products to meet their specification or customer requirements.
· Monitor line quality control to ensure products are filled, capped, cleaned, dated, labelled, packed and palletised correctly.
· Raise any issues immediately with the floor manager, quality manager or production manager.
· All necessary records of production will be filled in accurately, in full and neatly – including yields, operator line positions, broken glass etc.
· Minimise levels of rework and reject materials wastage.
· Recycle where possible waste packaging
· Be conscious of reducing energy use where possible i.e. turning off machinery at break times.
· Support the lines to run as efficiently as possible to maximise daily yields
· Update and input data to the Evocon line monitoring system or other OEE system.
· Maintain a clean and neat working environment, ensuring high standards of housekeeping, and control of chemicals.
Health and Safety
· Follow factory health and safety programs and standards. Ensure that colleagues and temporary staff understand and observe Ballymaloe Foods safety procedures, report to management when these are not followed.
Food Safety
· Follow Food Safety and Quality programs and ensure compliance. Ensure that colleagues and temporary staff understand and observe Ballymaloe Foods food safety and quality procedures and documentation is completed as required.
Cleaning
· Follow SOP’s for cleaning of machinery and equipment, including taking part and cleaning filling machines
· Train colleagues and new staff on cleaning procedures for equipment.
· Maintain cleaning schedules for walls, ceilings, and floors.
· Supervise that machines are cleaned correctly, that SOP’s are followed and signed off.
· Oversee correct use of chemicals and dosing quantities.
Forklift driving
· Move pallets and goods by forklift, electric pallet truck and hand pallet truck.
· Ensure safe forklift driving practices are followed

Salary: €12.50-€14.50 per hour
