The Maryborough Hotel is currently recruiting for Kitchen Porters.

Our Kitchen Team are looking for hardworking applicants who are not afraid of getting stuck in and assisting the chefs in a busy working environment.

Fulltime positions available to start ASAP

Previous experience is preferable.

  • Cleaning and sanitising all areas used for meal preparation, along with ovens, grills, sinks, and stoves.
  • Unloading food and equipment deliveries & ensuring they are stored in the right areas.
  • Continually making sure that work surfaces, floors, and walls are clean and sanitised.
  • Taking out the garbage.
  • Washing cutlery, utensils, and cookware.
  • Helping the chef with food preparation such as peeling, washing, and cutting meal ingredients.
  • Keeping freezers, fridges, and storage areas clean and organised.
  • Working as a part of a team is essential.
  • A professional appearance at all times
  • Commitment to maintaining a high service standards and have an outgoing personality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To support the Head Chef in the effective operation of the Kitchen
  • To wash up all crockery, cutlery and utensils used by all.
  • To ensure basic maintenance / hygiene of all kitchen equipment
  • To ensure the cleanliness of the total washing up area and to include all the equipment within that area.
  • Remove all kitchen waste as and when necessary and in accordance with the waste removal policies.
  • To ensure that all records are maintained to the standards required
  • To ensure adherence to the company policies and procedures relevant to this role.
  • To ensure the strict adherence to the Safety and security of the Kitchen and Kitchen Practices, including the safe storage and usage of all cleaning products as per company policy and regulations.
  • To notify the Head Chef, General Manager of any faulty or damaged equipment used by the kitchen staff.
  • To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.
  • Reporting accidents, injuries, dangerous occurrences, near misses, hazards and risks to seniors whose responsibility it is to act upon such information to reduce the risk of accidents. Qualifications and skills:

  • Previous experience working as a kitchen assistant would be an advantage
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A professional caring and empathic nature.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and availability to work allocated hours
  • A good level of the English language.
