Job Description
We are now expanding in several European markets and need a Grid Engineer to strengthen the business area’s Project Development team. The team is responsible for the project execution of large renewables projects in Statkraft of wind and solar development from early phase to operational phase, the main purpose of the Grid Engineer role is to work as an effective member of the Grid Team in the provision of high-quality technical expert input across all aspects of Grid Connection. You will report to the Grid Manager, Ireland.As a Grid Engineer your main responsibilities will be:

  • Manage and optimise grid connection process at all stages from initial site selection, feasibility assessment and connection application submission, through offer process, design and functional specification to construction, commissioning/testing, energisation and commercial operation
  • Support other members of the Statkraft team in the early stage development with grid assessment of sites
  • Complete high-level electrical design and functional specification for projects – including solar/turbines, substation and wind farm MV network
  • Work closely with the Project Development and Delivery Teams in scoping, assessing and negotiating the technical & commercial aspects and designs of Solar/Turbine Supply, EPC & related tender submissions and contracts. And subsequently manage and track performance against Employer’s Requirements
  • Ensure grid risks are minimised with best value delivered whilst monitoring and communicating risks to project teams to ensure business cases are up to date with all project delivery timescales, costs (TUoS/DUoS) and energy impacts (constraints/curtailment/TLAF/DLAF/Electrical losses)
  • Ensure grid code controllability testing & operational readiness certificates are achieved on time for projects
  • Support management of contractors and System Operators to ensure on time and on budget energisation of projects.
  • Support and manage as required the procurement process for specialist sub-consultants & contractors and manage ongoing relationships. Including scoping of work packages for third-party consultants
  • Provide Grid review and input to Due Diligence on M&A opportunities and Project Financing, including the scoping and review of Third-Party Assessment Reports and Statements
  • Liaise and build relationships with key stakeholders and statutory bodies: Regulators, System Operators and wind/solar industry
  • Ensure that consultants and contractors comply with Statkraft HSSE Policies and Procedures and demonstrate commitment to Statkraft Safety Culture
  • Any other duties, as required

 

Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering with outstanding results
  • Relevant work experience in a similar field
  • Keen interest and affinity in working with renewables in particular the grid connection process for wind and solar renewable energy projects.
  • Proactive and solution orientated with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, relationship building (including multi-team player) and people skills
  • Well organised and target oriented; strong ability to prioritise.
  • Ability to concisely frame issues by providing context, analysis, recommendations and risk/benefit, both in written and verbal format to project teams
  • Independent self-starter with a clear ability to manage a large workload, often providing support to processes managed by colleagues, while prioritising tasks and effectively juggling competing deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • IT Proficient
  • Track record of project delivery on time and within budget an advantage
  • Knowledge of Power Systems an advantage
  • Experience in the wind Energy, other Renewable Energy or Conventional Energy Sectors an advantage
