Cafe Assistant/ Hosting Staff Part-Time, Carewswood Garden Centre & Cafe, Cork

Carewswood Garden Center Cafe is currently recruiting for a host/hostess to join our fast paced daytime cafe and be the first point of contact for our guests.

Carewswood cafe is located just past Castlemartyr village in an old walled garden overlooking a luscious display of garden plants & Irish countryside.

The cafe opens at 9:30 to serve breakfast and coffee followed by lunchtime and afternoon delights until 5pm.

We are looking for candidates with keen interest in food and beverage, who relate well to people and are customer centred & previous experience within a similar environment is desirable.

The position available would be part time weekends, public and bank holidays , full and half days.

Requirements

• Ability to build relationships with colleagues and customers and ensure mutual satisfaction
• Customer-oriented and planning skills
• Working knowledge of cash register and any ordering information system
• Outstanding people skills
• Patient and friendly with demonstrated experience in problem solving
• Food safety training will be a plus
• Computer literate
• Excellent organisational skills
• Experience in managing reservations
• Excellent problem solving abilities
• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Show customers to their seats and present our variety of menu options in a warm and friendly manner.
• Advise on the best food and drink choices for each customer and answer questions
• Coordinate with staff about seating availability.
• Cash handling balancing of tills
• Ensuring all bills are paid.
• Check the quality of the final servings and resolve any issues
• Deliver bills and accept payment
• Work with other staff as a team
• Work diligently to achieve outstanding service quality
• Perform opening and closing duties as required.
• Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists.
• Manage reservations.
• Availability to work weekends, public holidays and bank holidays
• Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed
• Applicants must be 18 years old
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Cafe Manager
