Assistant Director of Studies, Cork English Academy

The Assistant Director of Studies (ADOS) is a core member of the academic management team and provides vital support to the Director of Studies (DOS).

The role also involves contributing to the continued development and improvement of the academic programme and to the success of the school.

Core duties:

• · The ADOS may have a teaching timetable. More or fewer hours may be necessary as required.
• · Covering for late or absent teachers, sometimes at very short notice.
• · Setting and maintaining exemplary standards of organisation, teaching, planning, time-management, and professionalism.
• · Covering the duties of the DOS during periods of absence.
• · Assisting the DOS with the organisation of external examinations.
• · Assisting the DOS with the interviewing and induction of new teachers.
• · Providing support and advice for teachers.
• · Assisting the DOS with CPD teacher development sessions to convey information on pedagogical methodology, school policy and technology.
• · Assisting the DOS with academic administration.
• · Assisting with intake of new students: organisation and orientation.
• · Responding to students’ academic queries and concerns.
• · Working with the DOS to raise the standard of teaching by carrying out observations.
• · Attending the weekly academic staff meeting.
• · Contributing to implementing the educational philosophy of the school and to promoting a culture of best practice.
• · Attending senior management meetings as required.

• · Degree + Cambridge CELTA or equivalent

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: €30,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
